5S Coming to all Parnassus Facilities Shops and Offices after successful roll out in the Mechanic and Engineering Shops !
The Challenge
In September 2025, with construction of new hospital, Facilities team relocated to the basement level of UCSF Long Hospital.
The new environment presented significant operational challenges. Spaces were smaller, unfamiliar to staff, and lacked organization and storage capacity to support operations. As a result:
Operational efficiency declined due to insufficient inventory access, storage, and workspace.
Space utilization is suboptimal, limiting the effectiveness of workstations and equipment placement.
Safety risks have increased, with materials and deliveries frequently obstructing walkways and creating tripping hazards.
Overall Aim:
Improve utilization of existing workspace and office areas to create a safe and productive work environment.
